Ranking methods
To award the prize, Ginkyo Ratings has carried out an assessment of the fair value of the workforce of the League 1 clubs and to do this, has evaluated the market value of all League 1 players as of June 30, 2020. The barometer is built according to an econometric and financial approach based on three sources:
1) The Ginkyo Ratings Agency database, which aggregates in-game performance data of Ligue 1 players over the 2019-2020 season and financial information on player transfers during the mercato periods.
2) Financial data extracted from the most recent publications available. These data published in March 2021 on the LFP website are produced by the DNCG and concern the 2019-2020 season.
3) Elements voluntarily published by the clubs in order to value their intangible assets.
The Ginkyo Ratings research team and the Camille Jordan Institute (Public Research Laboratory of Mathematics) have developed́ the first Artificial Intelligence that allows for the scientific and robust prediction of the transfer value of soccer players given the realitý of the market́, the sporting performances of the players and their teams. The criteria combine qualitative and quantitative approaches.
The criteria used for the award are:
1. The quality of the training embodied by the capital of players from the training center: the potential capital gain on trained players (value of players trained by the club), and in absolute value and in relation to the number of trained players.
2. The quality of the professionalization embodied by the capacity of accompaniment towards the professionalization: the share of the value generated by the trained players (% of the value of the trained players / global value of the professional staff), the cumulated playing time over the season of the young players coming from the training center.
