OL has obviously made its own studies on the value of the club. Jean-Michel Aulas summarizes: "There are several calculations on the valuation of the club, for example, from the gross operating surplus.
If we take the commonly applied valuation coefficients on the stock market, we arrive at a figure of between €740 million and €1 billion. This is our capital valuation for a banker. Otherwise, the training camp, the academy and the stadium, it's 465 M€ invested. And we add the value of the players that we have refined.
Because Transfermarkt (a website specialized in transfers and the value of players) does not take into account young players, those who do not have a professional background.
So we worked on a software, THESAURUS FOOTBALL®, in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance. All of this adds up to 400 million euros for our players. So we arrive at €865 million in terms of valuation."
According to the methodology developed by L'Équipe, it's more like 467 M€. And for the firm KPMG, in its financial evaluation of European clubs of May 2018, it is even less (429 M€).
